How to repair chips on Travertine
Chips on travertine can usually be repaired at home using color-matched stone epoxy. For deeper damage you'll want a stone restoration pro.

What you'll need
- • Color-matched stone epoxy kit
- • Razor blade
- • Painter's tape
- • Microfiber cloth
- • Optional: hardener accelerator
Step-by-step
- 1Clean and dry the chip area thoroughly.
- 2Mask around the chip with painter's tape.
- 3Mix the epoxy and tint to match the stone color.
- 4Slightly overfill the chip and let it dome.
- 5Cure 24 hours, then razor-shave flush with the surface.
- 6Polish the area with stone polishing powder to match the surrounding sheen.
Do not use
- Super glue — Yellows over time and won't accept polish.
- Hardware-store wood filler — Doesn't bond to stone and looks plastic.
- Acidic cleaners during repair — Etches the surrounding stone and ruins the patch blend.
When to call a pro
Damage covers more than a quarter, the chip is on a visible edge, or the stone is rare/expensive. Pros can color-match precisely and refinish the area invisibly.
